On the 10th of December 2019, Martijn Mes and Martijn Koot received the 2nd best applied WSC2019 paper award for their research on simulation solution validation at the Winter Simulation Conference 2019 in National Harbor. Their research concerns the comparison between the expected and actual performance of a solution provided by a simulation model. Such a comparison might become challenging when not only the implementation of the solution changed the environment, but also the processes and data have changed. A solution validation framework is proposed to structure the various comparisons, and provide key insights regarding solution validation by using a case study at the Integrated Emergency Post (IEP) in Enschede, The Netherlands.
On the 23rd of January, the New Year’s reception of the Port of Twente took place. Participants of the DataRel project were also present. It was an interesting day with a variety of speakers.
